Scott Weavers-Wright receives OBE at Buckingham Palace
June 14 - 2023 - Press Release

Scott Weavers-Wright received his Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday 13 June following the announcement in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List last year.

He was awarded the honour in recognition of his services to Technology and Retail E-commerce Entrepreneurship over the past 30+ years in business.

Scott is best known for co-founding one of Britain’s largest e-commerce businesses Kiddicare.com and creating the monetisation platform Elevaate which were both acquired for north of $150m in 2011 and 2018 respectively.

In 1990 at 18, he received a loan of £5,000 from The Prince’s Trust to support his technology business after being turned down repeatedly by local regional banks for a business loan. Scott is now a patron and alumni of The Prince’s Trust, where he has gone full circle giving back, providing support and mentorship to young people who need help to build a better life.

Jonathan Townsend, UK Chief Executive of The Prince’s Trust said: “We are delighted that Scott has received an OBE. He continues to be a great supporter of the charity through his fundraising and commitment to mentoring young entrepreneurs we support, to achieve their potential, many of whom face multiple challenges. Congratulations Scott.”

Scott’s latest business, Haatch has made 111 investments into 75 companies which are valued in excess of £800 million creating 2000+ jobs for the UK economy. Haatch announced in September that they had been selected and supported by the Regional Angels Programme at BBI (British Business Investments), a subsidiary of the UK-backed British Business Bank for a commitment of £10m to invest alongside Haatch in every investment.

Scott uses his knowledge and experience to provide hands-on support to the Haatch portfolio companies which are in the technology and retail e-commerce sectors.

Scott Weavers-Wright said “It is an absolute honour and privilege to be recognised.

The United Kingdom has some extraordinary entrepreneurs and young talent who need funding to enable them to disrupt industries. The team at Haatch is committed to finding and supporting them.”
