Virtual Science AI launches Medical Competitor AI

In 2022, we invested in Virtual Science AI.
We saw a chance to fundamentally change how the world's largest pharma companies use the huge volumes of fragmented information available to them. Data that had been sitting idle could become actionable intelligence, helping medical affairs, market access and commercial teams make faster, evidence-backed strategic decisions.
Built hand in hand with the biggest names in pharma
Since then, Virtual Science AI has built three market-leading medical intelligence products.
They're used by, and built hand in hand with, five of the top ten pharma companies.
From its London headquarters, the business now operates across Europe, North America, Asia Pacific and Latin America, and is increasingly working with innovative biotech organisations too.
Now there's a fourth
Building on the success of the first three, the team has launched Medical Competitor AI.
It's the first AI-driven platform in life sciences built to track competitor assets' medical activity and scientific narratives, and it's already being used by top pharma companies.
Medical Competitor AI helps teams continuously track competitor assets and activity, benchmark them against their own positioning, and surface actionable intelligence. It looks at what competitors are doing, the scientific stories they're telling, and how the medical community is responding.
A problem that used to be solved by hand, or not at all
Historically, analysing competitor medical activity has been slow and manual. Conference coverage, publications, posters, social engagement and trade activity all had to be pieced together by hand. In many cases, it simply didn't get done.
That matters most around a launch. Teams bringing a new treatment to market, or expanding into a new indication, need to decide which activities to prioritise and how to shape their scientific narrative so treatments reach the patients who can benefit most.
And they're doing it with tighter budgets and leaner teams than ever.
From snapshot reports to real-time intelligence
Traditional competitive intelligence has relied on point-in-time reports. Medical Competitor AI moves that to real time.
The result is insight that supports strategic direction, evidence generation, scientific communications and global medical affairs execution. Launch teams get a clear view of where to focus, and how to tell a story that's genuinely unique to their product.
As CEO Tom Hughes puts it, launch teams have historically had to piece this intelligence together manually or go without. Medical Competitor AI changes that.
Why we're proud
The team has combined deep domain expertise with innovative AI-enabled technology to create a category-leading platform. It's delivering measurable value to some of the largest organisations in life sciences.
We're excited to watch Virtual Science AI keep scaling its impact across the global pharmaceutical industry.
