Why We Crowdfund a Part of Our SEIS Fund

Entrepreneurship and innovation are at the heart of everything we do at Haatch. As a team of ex-entrepreneurs and operators, we’re excited about doing things differently and constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. After pioneering the model in 2023, our latest campaign raised the cap of £1.1m from 286 investors, taking the total Haatch investor ecosystem to over 1,400. This enables us to build a resilient long-term fundraising strategy and tap into the huge strategic value of these individuals to support our portfolio companies.

We’re proud to have been the first fund to open retail access to venture capital in partnership with Crowdcube. By lowering the minimum investment threshold by 5X, we’ve unlocked opportunities for a broader audience to invest in early-stage businesses. This move aligns with our belief in making venture capital more inclusive, accessible, and impactful.

Crowdfunding Meets B2B SaaS

Crowdfunding is often synonymous with direct-to-consumer brands like Revolut, Monzo, and BrewDog, where broad consumer appeal drives participation. This has naturally led to a lack of B2B SaaS investments available to a broader retail audience. As a specialist fund in this category, we enable exposure to high-potential B2B SaaS opportunities and offer them in a managed and diversified format, ensuring investors benefit from professional oversight and a balanced portfolio. It's a perfect complement to the direct Crowdcube offering.

As Matt Cooper, Co-CEO of Crowdcube, put it:

"We have loved working with the Haatch team and look forward to bringing more retail investors access to all of the sizeable tax benefits that come from SEIS fund investing. As more and more people in the UK get dragged into a higher rate tax band, these investment opportunities are becoming much more popular."

What’s Next?

This campaign may have closed, but the journey continues. You can now join the waitlist for our next SEIS allocation, which will open in Q1 2025. This exclusive opportunity will once again lower the investment threshold, giving more people the chance to be part of our next fund.

Working with Crowdcube has shown us that innovation isn’t just about the companies we back—it’s about how we approach investment itself. By blending our entrepreneurial DNA with the power of community capital, we’re shaping a future where venture capital is accessible, inclusive, and impactful.
