It’s Not That Hard: Why Tax Forms Shouldn’t Put You Off Tax-Efficient Investing

When it comes to tax-efficient investing, one of the most common reasons people hesitate is surprisingly simple: paperwork.

We hear it all the time, “I’ll look at EIS or SEIS once I’ve got my tax admin under control”, or “I don’t want the headache of loads of forms at year-end.” The reality? It’s far more straightforward than most people expect.

In fact, for Haatch investors, everything you need to complete your tax return is already organised for you, in one place.

All Your Tax Information, One Download

Each year, after 5 April, we produce annual tax reports via the Haatch Investor Portal. These reports look back over the previous tax year and include all the information required to complete your tax return, including:
• Details for income tax relief (including company names, investment dates, UIR etc.)
• Details for any loss relief
• Interest received
• Realised gains/losses
Rather than hunting through emails or downloading multiple certificates, you simply download one consolidated document, and you’re good to go.

No More Certificate Overload

Historically, tax-efficient investing often meant managing a stack of individual certificates (of course, these are still all available through your investor portal account). If you’ve invested across several funds, that admin adds up quickly, especially for advisers supporting multiple clients.

Our approach simplifies this significantly. If you’ve completed multiple EIS or SEIS investments through Haatch, you no longer need to reference each individual certificate to find the same core information. Everything is clearly laid out in one report, saving time and reducing friction.

Designed to Make Life Easier (For You and Your Adviser)

We’ve built our reporting with one goal in mind: making tax-efficient investing as simple as possible.

Whether you complete your own tax return or work with an accountant or adviser, having one clear, structured document makes the process faster, cleaner, and far less error-prone. It’s not about adding complexity, it’s about removing it.

Want to See What Else Is Available?

If you’d like a deeper look at what’s available to you, we’ve also created a walkthrough of the Haatch Investor Portal to help you get the best out of it. You can find the link below to explore everything at your own pace.

Haatch Investor Portal walk-through

Paperwork shouldn’t be the reason you put off tax-efficient investing. The information already exists, it’s clearly presented, and it’s designed to support you, not slow you down.

If you ever need help navigating the portal or understanding your reports, our team is always happy to help.

The start of January through to the end of the UK tax year is an incredibly important time for EIS & SEIS Fund managers, with a combination of a large number of early-stage companies seeking to complete their fundraising, as well as increased levels of investor appetite to offset income/capital gains tax liabilities before tax-year-end.

When we first backed AIApply in March 2024 through our SEIS fund, we were backing more than just a company; we were backing a thesis and a team. The job search experience is fundamentally broken. Candidates face a fragmented, opaque process that often feels stacked against them. We believed AI could transform this experience, putting the power back in job seekers' hands.
